Tools that schedule SQL reports by email (2026)
If you write SQL and need the results sent by email or Slack as PDF, Excel, CSV or HTML on a schedule or when a condition is met, here are the tools built for that job.
What to look for in a scheduled SQL reporting tool
The right tool depends on what you are sending and to whom. Database support matters: can it connect to your PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake or Redshift? Output formats matter: PDF for executive summaries, Excel for analysts, HTML email for operational teams. Scheduling and conditional alerts determine whether reports arrive on time or only when something needs attention. Security and white-label options decide whether you can send reports to customers. And pricing structure (per-user, tiered or on-premise) shapes which tool fits your team.
DataReportive
DataReportive connects to all major SQL databases and warehouses (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and more) and turns queries into scheduled reports delivered as branded email (HTML), PDF or Excel. Reports can be sent on a daily, weekly or custom schedule, or triggered when query results meet a condition. White-label and embedding features let SaaS companies offer customer-facing reporting, and the REST API supports programmatic workflows. Three tiers: Plus (10 users, $99/month), Pro (25 users, $149/month), Premium (50 users, $199/month). Free trial with no credit card required.
QueryReport
QueryReport (in beta) emails Excel, CSV or PDF results of SQL or MongoDB queries on a cron schedule. It connects to PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle and MongoDB, supports SSH tunnels and dynamic date parameters, and is free during beta; planned plans run from €0 to €149/year, with white-label on the top tier.
SQLMessenger
SQLMessenger is an on-premise Windows tool that schedules SQL tasks and delivers results via email, Slack, Telegram or webhook. Outputs include Excel, CSV, PDF and images. It runs on your own Windows machine (Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 or later, 64-bit), so all data stays local. Supports personalized messages, centralized workflow management and alerts. A free lifetime licence is available (with branding); paid licences are $98/year, $180 for 2 years or $360 perpetual, per computer. Supported databases are not listed.
Knowi
Knowi is an AI analytics platform focused on federated queries across SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch), REST APIs and documents. It offers dashboards, embedded analytics, threshold and anomaly alerts, and natural language search. Knowi is a strong fit for teams that need to join across heterogeneous sources (for example, Oracle and Elasticsearch) at query time without ETL. It is not solely a scheduled email reporting tool, but scheduled reports and alerts are included. Cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment are available. Pricing: contact sales; free trial available.
SaturnSQL
SaturnSQL is a collaborative SQL editor and scheduling tool aimed at data teams. It supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift, ClickHouse, BigQuery and DynamoDB. Queries can be scheduled to run and deliver results to Google Sheets or Slack (email delivery is Pro-only). The Starter plan is €19 per user per month (Pro €29 per user per month, in beta), and a free plan is available for one connection and one saved query. 14-day trial. SaturnSQL works well for internal team workflows but does not emphasise customer-facing or white-label reporting.
Metabase
Metabase is an open-source business intelligence tool with dashboards, self-serve exploration and AI-powered natural language queries. The open-source edition is free to self-host; Metabase Cloud starts with the paid Starter plan. Paid plans: Starter $100/month (5 users included, +$6/user), Pro $575/month (10 users included, +$12/user). SSO, row-level permissions and white-label are on Pro and Enterprise. Dashboard subscriptions are sent by email or Slack with optional CSV/XLSX attachments; single questions use alerts. Guest embedding is available on all plans, including open source; white-label and SSO embedding need Pro or Enterprise.
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
SSRS delivers paginated reports (PDF, Excel, Word, CSV and more) by email, file share or SharePoint on a schedule. Email and file-share subscriptions require Standard or Enterprise edition; data-driven subscriptions require Enterprise. From SQL Server 2025, Microsoft has replaced SSRS with Power BI Report Server; SSRS 2022 is supported until January 2033. SSRS fits teams already on the Microsoft stack and on-premise infrastructure. Configuration and maintenance require Windows Server and SQL Server licensing. It does not focus on cloud-first workflows or SaaS embedding.
